The brother of President Joe Biden said in testimony this week that the president received $40,000 originating from a Chinese company. The move came as the president’s son Hunter Biden claimed that his father had no role in any of his business dealings.
The president’s brother told congressional investigators that a check he sent to Joe Biden in the amount of $40,000 was cut utilizing funds from a Chinese company. The $40,000 came from a payment from CEFC China Energy, which is tied to the ruling Chinese Communist Party.
James Biden also claimed that he “misspoke” when describing the company’s head as a “protégé” of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
James Biden also revealed that he received almost $1 million from a businessman from Argentina. The president’s brother claimed that this effort was “sweat equity.”
The testimony also came after House investigators revealed that James Biden had sent a number of checks to his brother with memos reading “Loan Repayment.” Republicans in the House assert that the money came from James Biden’s foreign business deals.
Hunter Biden made his claim before the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees this week.

According to the First Son, the president had no role in any of his business ventures at any point.
“Never,” he claimed.”
Hunter Biden said that congressional Republicans had “hunted me in your partisan political pursuit of my dad.” He said that there was no evidence “to support the baseless and MAGA-motivated conspiracies about my father because there isn’t any.”
He said that many of the accusations against him were “lies.”
Hunter Biden claimed that congressional Republicans had utilized “documents that have been altered” as well as “cherry-picked snippets of financial or other records to misrepresent what really happened.”
While the president’s son asserted his father was not involved in his business, this testimony contradicted multiple reported phone conversations including Joe Biden with potential business partners. In addition, Hunter Biden previously claimed via text message that his father was with him in the room when discussing possible payment from a Chinese businessman.
