Trump To Speak At Libertarian Convention

Former President Donald Trump confirmed last week that he would speak at the Libertarian National Convention later this month. The word came as the former president received a warm welcome from leaders of the party less than a month after independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. announced he would not seek its nomination.

The former president said that libertarians are “some of the most independent and thoughtful thinkers in our Country, and I am honored to join them in Washington, DC, later this month.”

“We must all work together to help advance freedom and liberty for every American, and a second Trump Administration will achieve that goal,” Trump added.

“If Libertarians join me and the Republican Party, where we have many Libertarian views, the election won’t even be close. We cannot have another four years of death, destruction and incompetence. WE WILL WORK TOGETHER AND WIN!” said the former president.

The chair of the Libertarian Party’s controlling Mises Caucus said that the decision provided a large opportunity for his movement.

Mises Caucus Chair Michael Heise said that much of the shift that led to the former president speaking at the party’s convention was due to the growth of podcasts.

He also wrote that “Trump will address these issues for the first time ever and bridge a half century of broken communication between Libertarians and everybody else. It’s a historic development.

“I’ve been saying for years that this is a truly unprecedented and exciting phenomenon that represents an opportunity for Libertarians on a scale previously unimaginable,” he wrote.

Kennedy considered running his independent campaign under the Libertarian banner earlier this year but ultimately decided against it. The candidate said that he would run under a new party, the ‘We the People’ Party, and is collecting signatures to get on the ballot in all 50 states.

Trump accused Kennedy of being the “most Radical Left Candidate in the race, by far.” He also said that Kennedy was “a big fan of the Green New Scam, and other economy killing disasters.”
