Donald Trump Jr. Warns Against Haley VP Pick

Donald Trump Jr. advised his father against choosing former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) as a potential vice presidential candidate. The statement came after reports emerged that former President Donald Trump was considering his primary opponent as a potential running mate.

The former president’s son was clear in his opposition to Haley being chosen as vice president. Trump Jr. said that he “wouldn’t have her and I would go to great lengths to make sure that that doesn’t happen.”

Donald Trump Jr. accused the former South Carolina governor of wanting “never-ending wars” and described her as a “puppet of the establishment in Washington, D.C. She’s the new favorite candidate of the billionaire class because they want control— no different than academia and Harvard and using their billions to exercise influence.”

Trump Jr.’s comments came after about a week of speculation that Haley could be selected by Trump. The former president reportedly asked those around him about their opinion about choosing Haley as his running mate.

Trump Jr. made the comments about Trump’s former United Nations ambassador during a Newsmax interview.

He further criticized another opponent of Trump in the Republican primary, saying tha Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) proved “that he doesn’t have what it takes to be on that stage. He’s embarrassed himself that way.”

He then added that following DeSantis’ struggles, Haley is “now the preferred candidate.”

Despite the chatter, Haley previously stated that she would not join a new Trump administration as vice president, saying that she did not “run for second.”

There is also considerable opposition to Haley joining a potential Trump ticket from other allies. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) said that Trump’s movement “would revolt if Nikki Haley were to even be given an internship in Trump’s next administration.”

She said that Haley “represents the neocon establishment America last wing of the Republican Party that we are absolutely done with.”

The speculation about choosing Haley comes during Haley’s increased standing in recent polls, especially in New Hampshire.
