DNC Reportedly Paid For Biden’s Legal Fees

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) reportedly paid for the legal costs for President Joe Biden during the investigation of special counsel Robert Hur regarding the president’s alleged handling of sensitive documents. Following the end of the probe, Hur reported that he would not recommend charges against the president due to fears that he would present himself as a forgetful old man in his defense.

The DNC reportedly covered more than $1.5 million in legal costs for the president. The funds allegedly went to pay for the firm of Biden’s lead attorney Bob Bauer and his law firm.

Biden campaign finance chair Rufus Gifford said earlier this month in a news interview that Biden was “not spending money on legal bills or hawking gold sneakers.”

The DNC did not state the exact amount of money that the party spent on the president’s legal expenses.

There is no comparison—the DNC does not spend a single penny of grassroots donors’ money on legal bills—unlike Donald Trump, who actively solicits legal fees from his supporters and has drawn down every bank account he can get his hands on, like a personal piggy bank,” said a DNC spokesperson.

The release of Hur’s report earlier this year indicated that the president had trouble remembering key elements about his life during the interviews during the investigation. Biden reportedly forgot when his son Beau Biden died and when he was vice president.

Hur stated that if charges were levied against the president, he would present himself as an “elderly man with a poor memory.”

The possible use of DNC funds for Biden’s defense comes as many Democrats criticized the Republican National Committee (RNC) over reports it was considering covering expenses for the legal battles of former President Donald Trump.

Despite chatter that the RNC may have used the funds for such a purpose, the organization later stated that the donated funds would not be used for the former president’s legal bills.
