GOP Rep. Rescues Americans From Haiti

Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) announced this week that he organized a successful rescue effort that evacuated 13 Americans from Haiti as the country devolves into a state of near-anarchy. This represents the second successful rescue Mills put together in Haiti and the fourth overall since entering office.

Mills was able to bring 13 Americans out of Haiti’s capital of Port-au-Prince earlier this week.

Mills wrote on social media that it was “with great pride I announce that our team successfully conducted another rescue of 13 Americans out of PAP Haiti. Our team has now successfully rescued and evacuated more Americans than Biden and his entire administration.”

“Americans deserve support from their government. Not the pattern of abandonment this administration has shown,” wrote Mills.

Mills rescued ten Americans from Port-au-Prince last week.

“This mission reiterates a disturbing reality under President Biden’s leadership: American lives are continually jeopardized,” he said after the first rescue. “I have led missions to rescue Americans multiple times when Joe Biden has deserted them.”

Mills organized several other successful efforts to bring Americans out of danger during his time in Congress. This included a successful effort that evacuated Americans from Afghanistan during the 2021 withdrawal from the country. Last year, Mills organized the successful departure of Americans from Israel after the start of the current conflict last October.

The State Department cautioned Americans not to travel to Haiti amid the ongoing crisis.

A jailbreak earlier this year led to a collapse of the country’s government, with the prime minister resigning. A number of armed gangs control much of the country and violence has spiked.

The State Department has begun similar evacuations but cautioned Americans that they would travel to the waiting jet at their own risk.

Mills also criticized the Biden administration’s approach to both conflicts and said that the Americans remaining in Haiti were “left behind by Biden and his State Department after requesting their help in-country.”
