Wild Heist In NYC Happens In Broad Daylight

An armed heist recently occurred in broad daylight in the Manhattan, New York City Carnegie Hall Neighborhood.

Videos circulated on social media as the brazen heist occurred in the usually quiet and safe Upper East Side neighborhood.

According to the 19th precinct of the NYPD, Saturday evening at about 5 p.m. a black Mercedes raged northbound on Second Avenue and after catching up to a silver Toyota Rav4 began slamming into the side of the vehicle.

In the witness footage, the screeching of tires can be heard as the Mercedes spins the Rav4 around onto a sidewalk, forcing it to go southbound against oncoming traffic. For a brief time, both vehicles were on the sidewalk causing pedestrians to move aside.

After continuous ramming by the Mercedes, the Rav4 was successfully pinned and brought to a complete stop.

Circulating videos show a passenger in the Mercedes jumping out and begin banging a gun against the passenger window of the Rav4. The driver of the Rav4 got out of the vehicle with his hands up. The culprit with the gun is seen going into the driver’s side of the Rav4 and leaving with a black bag. He is seen in the videos wearing a baseball cap, a gray zip-up sweatshirt and jeans.

One witness can be heard gasping and one saying “He’s got a gun. He’s got a gun.” In another aerial video, someone can be heard saying “ah, oh. He’s gonna shoot him.”

Police say the 55-year-old victim reported $20,000 was in the bag removed during the heist. The black Mercedes was later located abandoned about 5 blocks away.

The investigation into the wild incident is ongoing.
