United States Secret Service Director MUST RETIRE Following Assassination Debacle

A high-ranking official within the United States Secret Service (USSS) has been asked to retire following an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania. The USSS is now preparing to brief Congress on the lessons learned from the July 13 incident.

Michael Plati, the assistant director for the office of protective operations, has been asked to step down by senior leadership, including Acting Director Ronald Rowe. Plati will be ending his tenure with the USSS in the coming days. This decision is reportedly linked to the security failure during the assassination attempt, which has raised concerns throughout the agency.

The USSS is planning to provide Congress with a comprehensive briefing in the coming days regarding the incident and the steps being taken to prevent future security lapses. The briefing will focus on the lessons learned from the assassination attempt on Trump’s life.

Fox News Digital has reached out to the USSS for a comment on Plati’s departure but has yet to receive a response.

Following the assassination attempt, USSS Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned on July 23 under mounting pressure. The Department of Defense (DOD) has since offered the USSS additional support in protecting political figures who require personal security, including logistics, transportation, and communications, throughout the 2024 campaign season.

Anthony Guglielmi, the chief of communications for the USSS, stated last month that the DOD will be providing “additional assistance including logistics, transportation, and communications, through the 2024 campaign season.”
