A recent poll showed that former President Donald Trump led President Joe Biden in a series of swing states, which could hold the key to the November election. The results came as Trump has led in a series of other swing state polls in recent months.
The Fox News poll came after his guilty verdict in a New York court was announced. Trump is currently ahead of Biden in Arizona by 5%. When independent candidates are included, Trump leads by the same amount. Trump won the state in 2016 and lost to Biden there in 2016.
The Arizona result was an improvement of Trump’s position in the state three months ago. In Fox News’ March poll, Trump led in the state by 4%.
He has a similar 5% lead in Nevada in a head-to-head matchup. He also leads by the same amount in the results when a third party candidate was included. Trump did not carry the state in 2016 or 2020.
Trump is leading Biden in Florida by a 4% margin. His lead would expand if the independent candidates were included, rising to 7%. Trump won the state in both 2016 and 2020.
One of the most significant results in recent polling was the result showing Trump and Biden tied in Virginia. Trump did not win the state in 2016 or 2020 and no Republican nominee has won it in 20 years.
The two candidates each polled at 48% in the state. The result came after another poll from last month found the candidates tied.

The Fox News poll found that much of Trump’s strength came from a sharp increase in support from Virginia’s Black voters. The poll had Trump winning 25% of the group, as compared to a 9% share four years ago.
The swing state results also correlate with a number of national polls that show the former president in the lead.
Trump has separately stated that he would like to make a number of traditionally Democratic states competitive. He said that his campaign would push hard in his former home state of New York, as well as Minnesota. He also predicted that he would win New Jersey in November.
