Trump Does Not Receive Libertarian Nomination

Despite a plea before members of the Libertarian Party this weekend, former President Donald Trump will not be nominated as its nominee. The former president made history as the first major party nominee to address the convention of another party.

Despite the appearance of the former president, he did not receive the party’s nomination. He was nominated by a member of the convention, but the party determined that he could not receive the ballot line because he was not a member of the party.

“The reason I didn’t file paperwork for the Libertarian Nomination, which I would have absolutely gotten if I wanted it (as everyone could tell by the enthusiasm of the Crowd last night!), was the fact that, as the Republican Nominee, I am not allowed to have the Nomination of another Party,” Trump wrote.

During his Saturday address, the former president called on libertarians to back him, stating that joining forces with Republicans would make both “unstoppable.”

Trump’s message was received with mixed results. He requested that members of the convention nominate him for their party’s ballot access. Trump said that the indictments against him made him into a libertarian.

Furthermore, the former president said that even if the party did not endorse him that libertarians should endorse him.

Trump also promised to place a libertarian in his cabinet if elected to another term. He also promised to place libertarians in other positions in his White House.

Trump did receive some good news from the results of the convention. Even though he would not receive the Libertarian Party’s nod, neither would independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

Kennedy considered seeking the party’s nomination as a means to get on the ballot. However, he instead decided to seek the White House through a new ‘We the People Party’ and his campaign is collecting signatures to appear on the ballot.

Despite not seeking the Libertarian nomination, Kennedy spoke at the convention prior to Trump. During his speech, Kennedy criticized Trump’s time in the White House, especially during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic.
