Former President Donald Trump again blasted the FBI’s raid on his Florida home as an abuse of power and a blatant politicization of the justice system.
In a post to his Truth Social site on Sunday, Trump called the search a “sneak attack on democracy” and said the country has never seen such a raid carried out for political reasons before.
“America has never suffered this kind of ABUSE in Law Enforcement!” Trump wrote. “For the FBI to RAID the home of the 45th President of the United States, or any President for that matter, is totally unheard of and unthinkable.”
“This Break In was a sneak attack on democracy (our Republic!), and was both unannounced and done at a time when the President was not even present,” he added. “It was for political, not legal, reasons, and our entire Country is angry, hurt, and greatly embarrassed by it. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

As the search warrant and list of items seized from Trump’s property revealed after the raid, Justice Department officials were investigating the former president for potentially investigating the Espionage Act. Records show that 11 sets of classified documents were taken from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence during the raid.
Trump, however, has claimed that all the documents in his home had previously been declassified. In a statement, the former president said he had a “standing order” to automatically declassify any documents he took from the White House.
“As we can all relate to, everyone ends up having to bring home their work from time to time. American presidents are no different,” the statement read. “President Trump, in order to prepare work for the next day, often documents including classified documents to the residence.”
“He had a standing order that documents removed from the Oval Office and taken to the residence were deemed to be declassified the moment he removed them,” the statement continued. “The power to classify and declassify documents rests solely with the president of the United States.
In a separate Truth Social post on Sunday, Trump claimed the FBI took both “boxes of privileged ‘attorney-client’ material” and “‘executive’ privileged material,” and demanded that the agency return all the materials to him.
