A judge has ruled that Axel Rudakubana, the 17-year-old who brutally murdered three young girls and attempted to kill 23 others at a Taylor Swift-themed dance party, will spend nearly his entire life behind bars.

Judge Mr. Justice Goose handed down a minimum sentence of 52 years to Rudakubana, stating that if he had committed the crimes just days later after turning 18, he would have received a rare full life sentence.

Despite Rudakubana’s last-minute guilty plea, chilling new details about the Southport attack were revealed in court. It emerged that in at least one instance, Rudakubana had attempted to decapitate one of his child victims with a knife. The judge detailed the horrific injuries sustained by the three murdered girls, including 85 sharp force wounds to 7-year-old Elsie Dot Stancombe, 122 wounds and an attempted decapitation of 6-year-old Bebe King, and a chop wound to the head and four stab wounds to the back of 9-year-old Alice da Silva Aguiar.

The judge stated that Rudakubana had the intention to “murder as many of them as he physically could” and would have killed all 26 girls if he had the opportunity. Shockingly, after his arrest, Rudakubana expressed no remorse, instead gloating, “I’m glad those kids are dead, it makes me happy. I don’t care, I’m feeling neutral. It’s a good thing those children are dead.”
