midnight voting ritual in Dixville Notch concluded in a deadlock, with three votes cast for Vice President Kamala Harris and an equal number for former President Donald Trump.

Out of the six votes tallied, four came from registered Republicans, while the remaining two were from undeclared voters, as reported by ABC News.

With more journalists present at the Balsam Resort than actual voters, the entire process unfolded in nearly 10 minutes. After the national anthem was played, the six voters entered the voting booth one by one, and their ballots were subsequently hand-counted, with the results inscribed on a whiteboard.

“What President Trump and I want to do on family policy is make it easier for families to start in the first place. We want to bring down housing costs so that if you have a baby, there’s actually a place to raise that baby,” Vance said. “We want to increase and expand the child tax credit. We want to make it easier for moms and dads to not be surprised by these medical bills when they go to an out-of-network provider. We’re working on all this stuff, and I think that’s ultimately how we turn down the temperature a little bit, is to make it easier to choose life in the first place. Because when you talk to women, you talk to moms and dads, a lot of times they feel like, if you have a pregnancy, especially an unexpected pregnancy, there just aren’t options. We want to provide more options so that people are raising families in a thriving and happy way in this country.”

In the previous two presidential elections, Dixville Notch voters had leaned toward the Democrats, awarding all five of their votes in 2020 to President Joe Biden and four out of seven votes in 2016 to Hillary Clinton.

While the midnight voting custom spans nearly six decades, this year, Dixville Notch stood as the sole town in New Hampshire to cast ballots at midnight. Officials from two other towns traditionally partaking in the midnight vote, Millsfield and Hart’s Location, opted for more conventional daytime voting hours.
