Sen. Marshall Endorses Trump

Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) threw his support behind former President Donald Trump for the 2024 Republican nomination. The move follows a spate of endorsements and positive polls for the former president.

Marshall’s statement included both praise for Trump and criticism of President Joe Biden. According to the senator, the Biden administration “declared war on American agriculture and American energy independence in pursuit of their Green New Deal agenda and electric vehicle mandates.”

He further said that the president opened the nation’s border, “ceding control to the cartels, allowing nearly 10 million illegal aliens into our country and permitting lethal fentanyl to pour into our communities — killing 300 Americans a day.”

Marshall cited “strangling regulations” and high federal spending as “causing the highest inflation and interest rates that we’ve seen in decades.”

The senator wrote that the country needed “an America-first leader back in the White House who fights for families in the Heartland and the values we live by.”

The endorsement marks the 13th U.S. senator who backed the former president. No other Republican contender has the support of anyone else in the Senate.

Trump also has the support of more than six dozen Houe Republicans.

The nod also follows a positive relationship between the two, including Trump calling Marshall on the day of his election victory.

Trump received the endorsement of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) this past weekend. The border state governor cited Trump’s record on immigration and security.

“We need Donald J. Trump back as our president of the United States of America. We need a president who is going to secure the border,” said the governor. “I’m here today to officially proclaim my endorsement for Donald J. Trump to be President of the United States of America, again.”

Abbott stated that the current border situation “is causing a potential terror threat.” He cited the attempted crossing of a number of individuals on the federal government’s terrorist watchlist.

“A president has one ultimate responsibility and that’s national security. Joe Biden has failed at national security. Well, I’m here to tell you that there is no way, no way that America can continue under the leadership of Joe Biden as our president,” Abbott said.
