Rep. McCaul Demands Answers From Blinken On Classified Biden Docs

House Foreign Affairs Committee chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) is demanding answers from Secretary of State Anthony Blinken regarding classified documents found at the Penn Biden, the Washington Examiner reports.

Rep. McCaul sent a letter to Blinken, who formerly served as managing director for the Biden Center, saying he has “grave concern” about the then-vice president’s improperly-stored documents.

“The Foreign Affairs Committee is concerned about the national security and foreign policy implications of classified documents found at the Penn Biden Center, where you and several high-ranking State Department officials worked prior to your current executive branch appointments,” McCaul said in the Monday letter to Blinken.

McCaul also said that he would “like to better understand the role you and other Department officials played at the Center, as well as the extent of your knowledge and access to the documents found at the Center.”

Blinken has repeatedly denied having any knowledge of classified documents stored at the Biden Center.

“The short answer is no,” Blinken said last week when asked whether he knew about the documents.

“As you heard from President Biden about a week ago, I was surprised to learn that there were any government records taken to the Penn Biden Center. I had no knowledge of it at the time. The White House, of course, has indicated that the administration is cooperating fully with the review that the Justice Department has undertaken, and I of course would cooperate fully with that review myself.”

McCaul shared the Examiner’s report to Twitter, writing, “President Biden’s classified documents found at the Penn Biden Center—where Sec. Blinken & several high-ranking State Department officials previously worked—could have national security & foreign policy implications.”

“I’m pressing for more information,” McCaul said.

The congressman has asked for a “detailed explanation” of Blinken’s role at the Biden Center, as well as specific documentation surrounding the files discovered.

McCaul also has concerns regarding Chinese influence at the Biden Center.

According to the Free Beacon, the university has reeled in tens of millions in donations from China-linked entities since Biden’s vice presidency ended in January 2017.
