Pride Parade Canceled Over Bill Barring Kids From Lewd Adult Performances

A pride parade has been canceled after a bill passed in the Florida legislature prohibiting children from attending lewd adult performances.

While the left continues to claim that “LGBT pride” is just about loving who you want to love and being your true self, their actions continue to show that they are lying. If their slogans were true, there would be no conflict between a “pride parade” and the actions prohibited by the Florida bill.

The Pride Alliance of the Treasure Coast announced the decision to cancel the parade and raise the age limit for an associated event.

“After multiple meetings with city officials, it is with a heavy heart that Pride Alliance of the Treasure Coast has to announce that this weekend’s Pridefest will now be a 21 and older event,” a notice on the organization’s website said, in part.

The Pridefest event took place on Saturday at the MIDFLORIDA Event Center in Port St. Lucie after organizers and city officials made an agreement, according to WPTV.

“We are obviously upset and dishearten[ed] that it has come to this,” the organization noted on their site, adding that they would be announcing a “family friendly Party in the Park” event soon, claiming that it would be an event “where our youth can celebrate who they are.”

The legislation barring adult lewd performances for children — SB 1438, otherwise known as the “Protection of Children” bill — passed Florida’s House on April 19, and is now just waiting for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ (R) signature.

The bill defines “adult live performances” as “any show, exhibition, or other presentation in front of a live audience which, in whole or in part, depicts or simulates nudity… lewd conduct, or the lewd exposure of prosthetic or imitation genitals or breasts.”

While there is no mention of the word “drag” in the bill, the radical left is already attacking Florida for daring to protect children from inappropriate acts.

In a press release, the ACLU of Florida claimed the legislation was a “blatant attempt to erase drag performers and silence the LGBTQ+ community.”

However, Republicans have spoken out about the decision to blame the parade’s cancellation on the bill — with Florida House Rep. John Snyder (R) stating that “Nothing in our legislation would limit a pride parade.”

Snyder went on to say that the bill has nothing to do with pride parades, arguing that the Treasure Coast Pridefest annual event could have still happened.

“What we’re focused on is a common-sense approach, standing up for the protection and innocence of our children,” he said.

Shelita Taylor, a performer who organized Pridefest, claimed that the event was canceled because of “bigotry and hate.”

“This is the one date a year where they can go out and just openly be themselves,” Taylor told WPBF, adding that “it’s been all taken away because of bigotry and hate.”

Of course, a cursory search of footage from various pride-related events uncovers numerous reasons why these events are inappropriate for children.

Pride parades and other pride-related events, which the left claims are just about “being themselves,” include nude men and women walking down the street in front of children.

They also include people dressed in bondage gear — and even teddy bears in bondage gear on display on floats — all in front of children.

These events also often have drag queens — men dressed in outlandish and risqué women’s clothing — dancing inappropriately in front of children.
