House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (R-CA) boldly predicted that her Democratic Party will not only retain control of the House after the November midterms, but will actually gain seats.
Most analysts predict Democrats will lose about a dozen House seats, with some calling for many more to go to the GOP.
According to Punchbowl News, Pelosi was twice asked about her party’s chances come November and she gave the same prediction each time. Democrats have a slim 219-211 majority in the House and could shed a few net seats and retain control.
That, however, is not what Pelosi predicts. She reported seeing the faithful in 12 cities over 12 days and declared that the party is ready to take on some gains. And she credited Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Sean Patrick Maloney (NY) for making it possible.
Pelosi stated her conviction that the Jan. 6 demonstrations at the Capitol sealed the deal for Democrats this year. While many prognosticators within the party point towards the Supreme Court striking down Roe v. Wade as their alleged turning point, the Speaker feels otherwise.
In her way of thinking, the American people will swing towards Democrats because of last year’s incident in Washington.

Though most see Republicans in control of the House after the midterm elections with a chance to also regain the Senate, predictions for how the overall elections will turn out are all across the board.
Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who makes a habit of making prognostications, told Fox News that he believes the GOP will land anywhere from 25 to 70 more seats than they entered the election holding.
Others see a more conservative 20 to 35 seats gained, which would be more than enough to restore control of the body to Republicans.
The House speaker certainly cannot be blamed for supporting her own and making bold predictions, though with the state of the economy and border crisis, it is more than likely wishful thinking.
Still, it is up to the GOP to keep playing the hand dealt by the Biden White House. Do that, and November will take care of itself.
