Nicole Scherzinger has expressed regret and aimed to clarify her political stance after receiving criticism for engaging with pro-Donald Trump posts on Instagram. The former Pussycat Dolls member, aged 46, took to Instagram Stories on Friday, stating, “I deeply apologize for the hurt caused by my recent engagement with some social media posts. I made the mistake of not realizing that they could be easily interpreted as being politically related and I apologize to anyone who understandably reached that conclusion.”

Scherzinger insisted that the “presumptions” about her being a Trump supporter “do not reflect” her true self, her beliefs, or her voting choices. The “Don’t Cha” singer faced backlash after fans noticed her commenting on a post by Russell Brand, featuring him holding a MAGA-like hat that read “Make Jesus First Again.” Scherzinger had commented, “Where do I get this hat!!!? 🙏🏽❤️.”
Additionally, she had “liked” a post by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., where he expressed a desire to see Trump return to the White House. Members of the LGBTQIA+ community, who claimed to have been ardent supporters of the Broadway star, voiced their disappointment. One person wrote, “Imagine using gay people to promote your new show and then abandoning us at the ballot box. Shame on you.”
Scherzinger responded, “Many of the marginalized communities feeling hurt and concerned by the results of the presidential election are people I care about the most. I stand with them, as I always have, throughout my life and career. If you know me, you know that.” She explained her engagement with the posts, saying she thought she was “encouraging people to choose love and faith — ‘putting Jesus first.'”
Scherzinger has been open about her religious views in the past, once revealing she almost turned down a role in the TV remake of “Dirty Dancing” due to an abortion storyline. She concluded her statement by saying, “I come from a place of love, and I will always support values that bring us closer together. It’s so important we come together with compassion, and love one another more now than ever.”
