A highly contested election in New Jersey shows that middle-of-the-night jumps still exist.
With Governor Philip Murphy (D-NJ) battling it out against Jack Ciattarelli, the Republican contender. According to Pew Forum, New Jersey is 51% Democrat, 30% Republican, and 19% lean. The interesting thing is that there was such a shift in the independent category of voters. They seemed to have almost solely gone for Ciattarelli.
According to Politico, the race is 8%, with 50% going to Murphy and 59.3% to Ciattarelli. Less than 17,00 votes separate the two, with 11% of the votes expected soon.
There will be some questions after all of the results are in because of inconsistencies that have been reported.
Ian Smith, the owner of Atilis Gym Bellmawr, has reported inconsistent votes after Bergen County reported 100% of votes were counted. According to Smith, at 1:27 am, the county reported 52.2% for Ciattarelli and 47.3% for Murphy, but at 9:24 am, still, with 100% of the votes in, the numbers changed to 51.8% for Murphy and 47.6% for Ciattarelli.
The question is if Bergen County was at 100% vote in, why did the numbers change? And why such a large discrepancy in the time frame? It wasn’t a computer glitch or a mess up, and if all of the votes weren’t in, then why report it?
It wasn’t the only inconsistency. Smith also said, “Major NJ “irregularity” #2 – Burlington County with 97% vote in was 54.4% for @Jack4NJ and a few hours later read 52.2% for @GovMurphy. If you don’t think we aren’t going to audit this, Phillip, you’re crazy.”
After posting on Instagram, Smith’s account was deleted. He posted the deletion on Twitter and posted his backup account.
Smith also promised to hold Governor Murphy accountable even if he isn’t governor. They still have lawsuits pending against the state and Murphy that don’t seem to be going away anytime soon.
Smith said, “Remember that @GovMurphy, the DA’s office, a corrupt judge, sheriff’s office, town council and Captain of Bellmawr PD, and the Health Department couldn’t stop @TheAtilisGum from opening against unconstitutional mandates.”
Murphy brought out the familiar characters: President Joe Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, former President Barack Obama, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Bernie Sanders (D-VM). None of which have boosted his poll numbers. If the recent polls were honest, he would have already won by a more considerable margin than he currently sits, which was predicted to be 52%.
There’s no doubt that Ciattarelli will contest the results. The actual results of the election will take several weeks, if not a couple of months, to determine, but it ultimately depends on how quickly the court process goes. Maybe soon Murphy will put up an “Office of the New Jersey Governor-Elect” in place of his governor sign.
