MTG Launches Inquiry Into Taxpayer Funds In Ukraine

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) announced Thursday that she plans to re-introduce legislation forcing an audit of the billions sent to Ukraine.

On Friday morning, on the one-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion, she followed up on her promise, introducing the Resolution of Inquiry into Taxpayer Dollars Spent in Ukraine to “find out exactly where OUR money is going.”

“It’s going to force Congress to give the American people an audit,” Greene said on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Thursday evening.

“And that is exactly what the American people need, an audit of Ukraine, because we have no idea where all this money’s going.”

Greene’s Friday inquiry comes weeks after then-Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov’s ouster amid widespread corruption scandals within the country’s military, as Breitbart reported.

According to The Hill, Greene’s resolution of inquiry can allow the House of Representatives to request and potentially obtain information from the executive branch of government.

In the 116th Congress, Greene also introduced the resolution, but without a majority, the GOP-backed bill failed. But with a Republican House secured, Greene is more confident in the resolution’s chances this time around.

“I’m introducing this resolution, and I’m looking forward to seeing my Republican colleagues support it,” Greene said.

Citing polling data that show Americans fiercely divided on long-term taxpayer support for Ukraine’s defense, the conservative firebrand argued that the war “does nothing” for Americans despite requiring substantial taxpayer funding.

“There’s not bipartisan support among the American people for fighting a war in Ukraine that does nothing for Americans except force them to pay for it,” Greene added on “Tucker.”

In a Fox News poll released on Thursday, 46% of all Americans said there should be a “limited time frame” for U.S. taxpayer support to Ukraine, with 61% of Republicans signaling that a deadline should be set for funding.

Ahead of the midterms, Greene famously promised that, under a GOP-led House, “not another penny” would be sent to Ukraine.
