Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes, has gained attention for a cryptic social media post after the latest backlash.
The drama started when Mahomes allegedly liked an Instagram post by the former President Trump, which shared the “2024 GOP platform” on August 13.
Mahomes was criticized by some social media users and met with backlash. In response to the backlash, Mahomes addressed her “haters” before sharing a poignant message on her Instagram Stories late Monday.
She shared a post, whose original author was a preacher by the name of Shanae Pruitt, which read “Contrary to the tone of the world today… You can disagree with someone and still love them. You have different viewpoints and still be kind.”
It is worth noting that Brittany Mahomes generally does not post about her political opinions, making her responses particularly interesting.
It was noted by The Daily Mail that in September 2017 she tweeted that Trump had “offended waaaay too many people”. While the context of the original tweet is unclear, Trump tweeted negatively against the NFL and its athletes the same year, when NFL players kneeled on the field in protest against racial inequality in the country.
Patrick Mahomes has been noted to take a neutral stand on political endorsements. According to Open Secrets, the NFL quarterback donated $500 to the NFL Players Association’s political action committee, which in turn donated $45,000 to the Democrats and $35,000 to the Republicans.
In an interview with Time magazine, he expressed his thoughts on political expression without pressuring people to vote for certain candidates.
He said, “I don’t want to sway people to pick one president over the other. I want people to use their voice, whoever they associate with. I want them to do research”.
The couple had been in the public eye not only for celebrity culture, but also due to Brittany’s activism.
