Kamala Harris Gives Less Than 10-Minute Interview – Critics And Supporters Furious

On Thursday, Kamala Harris responded to questions from journalists for one of the first times since becoming the Democratic Presidential nominee which only lasted about 10 minutes.

Asked by a reporter about criticisms that have been leveled at her because she has not conducted an interview or held a formal press conference since becoming the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, Harris answered, “I’ve talked to my team. I want us to get an interview scheduled before the end of the month.”

Harris’s brief engagement with the media prompted reaction on social internet and conservatives criticized her for giving a less than fully-fledged response.

Radio host Ari Hoffman said, “Trump spent a seemingly endless amount of time taking unvetted questions from the press and days doing radio interviews and phone calls with reporters…and this is the best Kamala could do? Will the media accept these crumbs?”

Daily Caller White House correspondent Reagan Reese said that former President Biden’s appearances with the press compared unfavorably: “When Biden’s political career was on the line, his team scheduled two sit-down interviews and a press conference in the span of a few weeks. He’s now sitting for another interview before Harris has even done one.”

“Kamala Harris finally takes a few questions in passing, speaking for less than a minute, and you’ll be shocked to learn they were all softballs, with two of them being ‘tell me how bad Trump is.’ The press isn’t coming back from this. There’s no credibility left,” RedState writer Bonchie commented.

National Review senior political correspondent Jim Geraghty responded to Harris’s pledge for an interview by tweeting, “Ah, so the Democratic nominee, who has not done an on-camera sit-down interview since Biden withdrew July 21, says she will try to do one in the next 23 days.”

But attorney Kostas Moros chastised the timeline, saying: “ONE interview in a month? I know writing and memorizing a script takes time, but come on.”

Harris has agreed to take time for an interview but its timing is pending while she awaits news about the debate on ABC.

“I am happy to have that conversation about an additional debate for after September 10, for sure,” Harris said.

“[Trump] proposed two more,” a reporter remarked.

“Like I said, happy to have that conversation,” she said.
