Joe Biden And The End Of Title 42

Title 42 is a popular health-based limitation on immigration which came into existence at the time of Trump’s administration, and is set to end on May 23, 2022.

This policy was started by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) under former President Donald Trump’s administration. It was meant to strengthen the American-Mexican borders and stop illegal migrants from entering the U.S. due to the threat of COVID-19.

The pressure is rising from the court and open border supporters. The increasing number of migrants is an issue for the White House as they have no Plan B to control the coming surge. This is the major reason why Title 42 is extended to the end of May.

Many Democrats are against this policy, but a few Democrats like Krysten Sinema and Mark Kelly are in favor and want this policy to continue. They have also urged Biden to carry on with Title 42 until a proper strategy is ready for implementation.

Over 7,000 immigrants are confronted on the Southern border each day. And there were more than 160,000 encounters just in February. The situation has pushed the Department of Homeland Security to request applicants to the DHS Volunteer Force.

Despite refusing many migrants under Title 42, the Biden administration has still been allowing large numbers into the country.
