Former President Donald Trump spoke about the Harris-Walz ticket during “Fox & Friends,” discussed reshaping his views on the economy and immigration reversals, and the crucial importance of the November election was emphasized.
Trump is currently leading the race, but his lead is shrinking. In the most recent polling stats, Vice President Kamala Harris leads the Democratic ticket with a new running mate.
When asked at the start of the present election cycle if they would like to have seen neither President Biden nor former President Trump enter the race, most voters responded affirmatively.
A Fox News poll taken shortly after the midterms recorded 64% of voters saying they did not want to see Biden on the ballot a year from now, while 58% said the same about Trump.
Throughout the 2024 campaign cycle, Biden rapidly lost support from regular Democratic voters and struggled to energize independents. The most common objection raised by voters was Biden’s age, with many indicating that he was too old to run for a second term.
Last month, he responded to his detractors by removing himself from the race on a Monday and resurfacing this afternoon as the Democratic nominee. Meanwhile, the Republicans have united behind Trump, however, his ability to win independent voters is capped.
If polling is to be believed, the 2024 presidential winner will be the one that least reminds voters of Trump or Biden. In a nutshell, Harris and Trump have about 90 days to show they may be “someone else,” and the uniqueness they’ve chosen is key. Biden is regarded as too liberal by the majority of Americans. In June, 56% of adults and 56% of independent voters agreed.
Trump is also unpopular, along with his “MAGA” movement. Citing a survey last year that found only 24% of Americans hold a favorable opinion of the movement – and fewer than one in eight independents.
Walz doesn’t offer much help, but Harris does gain a leg up by no longer having the age question.
That safety has stemmed from the fact that Harris, 22 years younger than Biden, does not remind voters of him and her standing in national polls did improve.
On Tuesday, Harris picked Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate.
Walz, in turn, has backed a number of socially progressive measures – including allowing illegal immigrants to apply for drivers’ licenses and designating Minnesota the nation’s first “Trans Refuge State.”
But he takes heat for being slow to act in quelling riots, looting and arson sparked by the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
