Former New York Gov. David Paterson (D) said last week that the successful rally held by former President Donald Trump in New York City should be a warning sign for President Joe Biden. The former president attracted a significant crowd in the Bronx, which is a traditional Democratic Party stronghold.
Paterson said that the rally was a “wake-up call” for Biden. He also cited a recent poll showing Trump within 9% of Biden in the state. Biden carried New York by 23% in 2020.
The former governor said that the Siena College poll showed that Trump was within “striking distance to actually winning the state of New York.”

Paterson said that the result was a warning to the “Democratic Party, who just seems to think that you can criticize what Trump did four years ago and that that will be enough.”
The former president’s rally received positive marks from attendees. There was a large cross-section of residents at the rally.
The former president said at the New York rally that he would make a serious push to win his former home state.
Trump has been visiting places and crowds in New York during his ongoing criminal trial there. He received warm welcomes from crowds of cheering supporters, some of whom chanted ‘We love Trump.’
The former president was also well-received by members of the New York Fire Department (NYFD), where he brought pizza.
The successful New York rally followed a similar one in New Jersey earlier this month. The Trump campaign said that up to 100,000 people attended the event.
During the rally, the former president said that he would win the Garden State, which no Republican has won in more than 30 years.
Trump has made a significant push into other states that have recently voted for Democrats recently. He was the main speaker at the Minnesota Republican Party’s Lincoln-Reagan Dinner, where he said that his campaign was in good position to win the state. No Republican has carried the state in more than 50 years.
