Dr. Anthony Fauci asserted on Monday that he has “armed federal agents” with him at all times because of comments like those of Twitter CEO Elon Musk.
Interviewed by the scientific journal Nature, the controversial infectious disease expert said that remarks such as those Musk recently tweeted “stir a lot of hate in people.”

Revelations continue to emerge from the systematic release of the Twitter Files showing the platform previously suppressed information critical to the pandemic. Musk over the weekend tweeted that “my pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci.”
This simple statement enraged the left for its joking reference to liberals and their worship of gender identity. But on a more serious level, Musk previewed the content of internal documents that point to the stifling of important information.
Musk then added that the president’s chief medical adviser “lied to Congress and funded gain-of-function research that killed millions of people.”
Later, Musk tweeted a meme that superimposed the faces of Fauci and President Joe Biden onto mythical characters. It appeared to show Fauci imploring the president for “just one more lockdown.”
When asked by Nature about the tweets, Fauci declared that “I don’t pay attention to that…and I don’t even feel I need to respond.” But then he responded by saying that it is “misinformation” and created the need for a personal security detail.
Further, he said the Twitter CEO stirred people “who have no idea why they’re hating.” Insultingly, Fauci said that these individuals feel strongly about him “because somebody is tweeting about it.”
Of course, the White House chimed in on Monday by calling Musk’s tweets “disgusting” and echoed Fauci by labeling them “incredibly dangerous.” Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, when asked about the postings, said they were “personal attacks” and “divorced from reality.”
Jean-Pierre, who did not refer to Musk by name, added that the Biden administration will “continue to call that out and be very clear.”
What is very clear is that the White House and its mainstream media allies have declared war on Elon Musk. His commitment to free speech is nothing less than a threat to their previous stranglehold on news and social media platforms, but it is hardly that to Dr. Fauci.
