Don Lemon Fired By CNN After 17 Years

Disgraced CNN host Don Lemon has announced that he has been “terminated” by the left-wing news network after 17 years.

Lemon previously hosted a late-night commentary show, which was canceled — leaving Lemon reassigned to a morning show to co-host alongside Poppy Harlow and Kaitlan Collins.

He continued his antics on “CNN This Morning,” and was even forced to receive “formal training” after making sexist comments on air — which ranged from fighting with his two female co-hosts to claiming that 51-year-old Nikki Haley was “past her prime.” However, his actions on the morning show were not the first time Lemon has been called out for sexism — as Variety has reported that the former CNN anchor has faced accusations about not treating women well in the workplace as far back as 2008.

Lemon announced his firing in a statement, saying that he was “stunned” by the network’s decision.

“I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN. I am stunned. After 17 years at CNN I would have thought that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly,” Lemon said.

“At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network. It is clear that there are some larger issues at play,” he added.

“I want to thank my colleagues and the many teams I have worked with for an incredible run. They are the most talented journalists in the business, and I wish them all the best,” he continued.

The CNN Communications team also announced the news on Twitter.

“CNN and Don have parted ways,” the tweet read. “Don will forever be a part of the CNN family, and we thank him for his contributions over the past 17 years. We wish him well and will be cheering him on in his future endeavors.”

CNN also put out a second statement later in the day following Lemon’s comments about his termination — pointing out that he had lied about not being told “directly” about his firing by the network. According to the statement, Lemon chose to put out that inflammatory statement rather than having a meeting with management about the decision.

“Don Lemon’s statement about this morning’s events is inaccurate,” CNN Communications wrote in a statement. “He was offered an opportunity to meet with management but instead released a statement on Twitter.”

Speculation has already begun about the reasons behind CNN’s decision — with many citing Lemon’s recent unhinged rants while he was supposed to be interviewing Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. During the segment, Lemon barely let Ramaswamy finish a sentence, talking over him and refusing to acknowledge his factual arguments.

Others have laughed at the coincidental timing of Lemon’s firing — as Fox News announced that they were parting ways with popular host Tucker Carlson on the same day. While commentators are wondering where Carlson will end up premiering his next show, it appears that not many people are asking where Lemon will end up — as the disgraced former CNN host has a lot of baggage that will turn off any potential offers from other networks.
