Acclaimed actor Denzel Washington has made a startling revelation about a deleted scene from the forthcoming film “Gladiator II.” In a candid interview with the LGBTQ-focused media company Gayety, Washington disclosed that he had filmed a passionate kiss with a male co-star, but the sequence was ultimately cut from the final edit.

“They removed a scene where I kissed a man full on the lips,” Washington revealed. “I guess they weren’t prepared for that level of intimacy yet.” The Oscar-winning actor, who portrays the character of Macrinus in the “Gladiator” sequel, added a humorous touch by stating, “I killed him about five minutes after the kiss. It’s Gladiator. It’s the kiss of death.”

While Washington did not specify which actor he had locked lips with, the revelation has sparked curiosity among fans and industry insiders alike.

Gayety also inquired about rumors of a forehead kiss between co-stars Pedro Pascal and Paul Mescal that was allegedly excised from the film. Washington’s response was uncertain: “I’m not sure about that one.”

However, in a separate interview with Cinemablend, Mescal confirmed the existence of the cut scene, providing further details. “I didn’t tell [director] Ridley [Scott] I was gonna do it,” Mescal admitted. “And then I was nervous after we did it because I thought he was going to fucking hate it.”

Mescal recounted his apprehensive exchange with Scott after filming the impromptu moment: “So I nervously go over the radio being like, ‘Ridley? Did you like the kiss on the forehead? Yay or nay?’ And there was this kind of, like, [static] ‘I’m afraid I did.’ So I don’t know where it got lost in the edit.”

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the deleted scenes, Mescal expressed his unwavering trust in Scott’s artistic vision, stating, “But I trust this man entirely, though — how he cuts his films.”
