The Democrats haven’t had their fill in changing our election. Despite allowing massive vote-by-mail that is susceptible to fraud, early voting, and other voting rules, they are seeking one more: reviving their party by letting minors vote.
People under 18 years of age don’t yet have the maturity to be able to do most things. There are severe restrictions on their entry into contracts, working or owning firearms. However, some Democrats feel that they’re ready to vote.
The current battleground is in Maryland. The small town of Cheverly is the latest in the debate over whether or not youths should get the franchise.
The push to let people under the age of 18 vote is a relatively new one. However, the Democrats have made it a central theme for the last several years. If they have their way, 16 and 17-year-olds will soon be able to vote.
While the standard for voting is 18, several nations have tried to move the voting age lower. Brazil was the first nation to expand the franchise to 16 and 17-year-olds, followed later by Austria and several other countries.
There has been a spirited debate in the United States about the topic. Some states allow 17-year-olds to vote in caucuses or primaries. There was a proposal in Washington D.C. to allow 16-year-olds to vote in federal elections but it did not pass.
Some municipalities have allowed 16 and 17-year-olds to vote, including several in Maryland with similar, but not yet implemented, efforts in Massachusetts and California.
The Boston City Council on Wednesday approved a petition that would allow 16- and 17-year-old residents to vote in municipal elections. The petition will now be sent to the Massachusetts Legislature for approval, which is not guaranteed. https://t.co/2zZ3FwG3L7

The push for a lower voting age has nothing to do with fairness. As legal children, there are limitations on what youths at such an age can do. This includes voting.
If Democrats are able to allow 16 and 17-year-olds to vote, there would be a major new voting base for them. People that young generally don’t pay much in taxes and don’t own property or have kids. The primary motivators that lead to maturity just aren’t there.
That’s exactly why Democrats think that these young people will vote for them. It’s essential that this effort be stopped as soon as possible.
