According to Connecticut Republican Party Chair Ben Proto, Connecticut’s Attorney General William Tong is either gravely misinformed or a captive of his own ideology that rejects science, reason, and fairness. This statement was made by Proto during an interview with Newsmax on Wednesday.
Today, Chairman Ben Proto denounced Attorney General William Tong's decision to continue to allow gender alteration surgeries on minors and biological males to play in female sports.

Recently, Tong vowed to defy President Donald Trump’s executive order prohibiting males from competing in female sports, stating, “This is meanspirited and unlawful, and deeply harmful to all Connecticut students. The U.S. Supreme Court made it clear in Bostock that discrimination against transgender individuals is illegal under federal law.” However, Proto believes that Tong is on the wrong side of this issue in Connecticut.
“This is a guy who supports mutilating young children, who supports having biological men play against women and girls in all levels of sports, regardless of the physicality of the sport. He’s filed, I think, six or seven lawsuits against the Trump administration. He simply doesn’t get what’s going on. He’s completely lost,” Proto said.

Proto further added that Tong has higher political aspirations beyond his home state in mind. “We have all kinds of issues in the state of Connecticut that he really should be dealing with, but he’s not. And as a result, the people of Connecticut are suffering from his decision to try to be the, quote, unquote, attorney general for the United States than he is for the attorney general for the state of Connecticut,” Proto explained.
