A business associate of the Biden family has been called to testify before Congress under a subpoena issued by House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY). The call to testify against Devon Archer represents a further step in the investigation of the Biden family’s business dealings.
Comer’s Monday letter requested that Archer, who he described as “Hunter Biden’s business partner in several transactions involving foreign nationals and foreign companies.” Archer had previously worked with the president’s son in relation to business in China, Russia and Ukraine.
In addition, Comer has announced a number of major advances in the House Oversight Committee’s investigation into the Biden family’s finances.

At the center of the current controversy is an FBI document that outlines allegations from an informant about a potential $10 million bribe to the Biden family. According to the informant, he received credible information about a plan by a Ukrainian businessman to give both Joe and Hunter Biden $5 million in bribes each.
Furthermore, the president’s son previously served on the board of Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company tied to the bribe. He was being paid approximately $1 million annually for his service, despite having no energy policy experience.
Then-Vice President Biden pressured the Ukrainian government to dismiss a prosecutor investigating the energy company, threatening to withhold American aid unless they cooperated.
The Biden family has been accused of receiving a number of large payments related to foreign business dealings. This includes an alleged $1 million payment from a Romanian businessman who was under investigation for corruption.
Comer tied the payment to a visit by the then-vice president to the country. “While Vice President Biden was lecturing Romania on anti-corruption policy, in reality, he was a walking billboard for his son and family to collect money,” he said last month.
He added that there was no precedent for a “presidential family receiv[ing] these sums of money from adversaries around the world – we’re just talking about a couple of countries today.”
There have been several calls for Biden’s impeachment, including from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).
