House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY) said this week that he feared that the Biden family’s business ties may have sold influence to rivals of the United States.
Comer told Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) that he was “not shocked about anything” related to the GOP’s investigation into the Biden family.
“I think Joe Biden has been selling access to our enemies for decades.”

The Kentucky Republican said that President Joe Biden has “always been cash-strapped.”
“Then you look at the assets he’s accumulated on a senate salary — it’s pretty, pretty impressive,” he said.
Comer has been in the lead of the Oversight Committee’s investigation into the business dealings of the president’s family, including regarding Hunter Biden.
In particular, Hunter Biden appears to have been at the center of a number of foreign business deals, including in Ukraine, China and Romania. The president’s son served on the board of directors of Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company despite a lack of experience prior to his appointment.
He was paid about $1 million per year for his services while his father was vice president.
Comer’s comments come as Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) released a mostly-unredacted FBI form which outlines concerns that a Burisma official attempted to bribe both Joe and Hunter Biden.
According to the FBI FD-1023 form, Burisma founder Mykola Zlochevsky discussed a possible effort to give a $5 million bribe to each Joe and Hunter Biden.
Another Burisma official told an informant that the company “hired Hunter Biden to ‘to protect us, through his dad, from all kinds of problems.” The same official said that the younger Biden “was not smart.”
The meeting, which would have occurred during Biden’s time as vice president, saw Zlochevsky tell the source that an investigation by Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin into the company would “have a substantial negative impact on Burisma’s prospective IPO in the United States.”
Then-Vice President Biden pressured the Ukrainian government to fire Shokin, threatening to withhold American aid until he was relieved of duty.
Furthermore, evidence from Hunter Biden’s purported laptop showed that the younger Biden attempted to help the Ukrainian businessman receive an American visa after it was revoked by the U.S. State Department.
