As President Donald Trump aims to address anti-Christian bias through the formation of a new task force, the Idaho Army National Guard finds itself embroiled in a controversy that demands scrutiny. A recent clip shared on the social media platform X, featuring Todd Starnes from Newsmax’s “Todd Starnes Show,” shed light on a lawsuit filed by Maj. David Worley against the Idaho Guard for implementing what appears to be a “No Christians in Command” policy.
The lawsuit stems from a complaint lodged against Worley by a fellow Guard member, who labeled him “unsafe” after unearthing past comments made by Worley on Facebook. In those comments, Worley had expressed opposition to children attending drag queen story hours and having access to pornography in public libraries. Additionally, he had voiced concerns about gender surgeries and hormones being provided to children.
The complaint coincided with Worley’s impending promotion to command the Idaho National Guard’s recruiting and retention unit. The complainant, a soon-to-be subordinate, alleged that Worley should be investigated and punished for his remarks.

According to Mat Staver, the founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel, who represents Worley in the lawsuit, the comments – made well before Worley’s promotion – and the subsequent complaint led to the establishment of the policy now under scrutiny.
“[The backgrounds of commanding officers and soldiers] ought to be scrutinized for their beliefs that they [the National Guard] consider to be extreme,” Staver told Starnes. He added, “And they considered to be extreme that children should not be exposed to pornography in the libraries, drag queen story hours were problematic for children in the libraries, and that children shouldn’t have mutilating surgeries.”
Starnes further revealed that the complaining soldier was gay, and the complaint accused Worley of creating a “toxic work environment” even before he assumed command. Staver stated that Worley’s “past, private words,” expressed out of uniform and outside his National Guard duties, resulted in the top brass declaring the existence of a “No Christians in Command Policy” within the Idaho National Guard.
“For all candidates for command, they now need to be scrutinized to ensure any concerning statements are discovered. They need to be reported to the Department of Defense. They need to be investigated for what they called ‘extremist activity,'” Staver explained.
This morning, Daniel Schmid from Liberty Council joined me to discuss this absurd case of religious discrimination against Major David Worley of the Idaho Army Nat’l Guard.

He added that Gen. James Packwood, the assistant adjutant general of the Idaho Army National Guard, “concluded that Worley’s religious views were, quote, ‘toxic,’ close quote, and removed him from command, solely due to these previous, protected religious statements on his private social media.”
If Staver’s investigation for Worley’s lawsuit proves the allegations, it reinforces the need for the Trump administration to conduct its own thorough investigation as soon as possible.
“We will protect Christians in our schools and our military and our government, workplaces, hospitals, and in our public squares,” the president said while signing an executive order titled “Eradicating Anti-Christian Bias” at the National Prayer Breakfast, where he promised to safeguard Christians in various fields.
Attorney General Pam Bondi will lead the task force, and based on Staver’s description of the case, Worley’s lawsuit should be near the top of Bondi’s list.
