First, Dr. Anthony Fauci said that it was unclear if families could gather for Christmas. After he reversed his scientific decision, now we have President Joe Biden to look at the supply chain issues that the United States is seeing. Of course, there isn’t a common-sense solution to any of this, and it’s been coming for a long time, but Biden didn’t care about any of it.
Hundreds of cargo ships are sitting outside of the United States, waiting to be able to unload. If you halt the economy and shut down businesses, the import will slow, causing layoffs and preliminary work. When the economy is back open, the massive boom will cause a lot of hiccups in bringing supplies into the U.S. and be disastrous. Who would have known?
California is hit hardest, and with California Governor Gavin Newsom’s ridiculous lockdowns and mandates from 2020 into 2021, it’s not surprising that they’re having issues. Millions left the state when they noticed other states having more freedom than they were experiencing which is likely another after-effect that wasn’t anticipated.
Press Secretary Jen Psaki said, “We are not the postal service or UPS or FedEx. We cannot guarantee. What we can do is use every lever at the federal government disposal to reduce delays, to ensure we are addressing bottlenecks in the system including ports and the need for them to be open longer hours so that goods can arrive,” when asked what the federal government was planning on doing about the supply chain issue.
Psaki went on to say that the federal government will continue to press unions and workers to get the job done.
According to the Press-Telegram, Long Beach, California port was hailed as the “greenest” shipping terminal. How’s that working out now? The problem with automation is that there’s not a variable for human decision-making and prioritization. Sure, automated robots can be programmed to select the tasks you tell them to. Still, there’s not a more significant priority for essential items or a decision that could make the process more accessible at the time. It’s not looking like the automated route is working out for the Long Beach port and, in turn, is harming everyone. When automation begins, employee numbers drop. Whether that’s a dramatic drop or a small drop, there aren’t any employees to handle the extra loads when things start to stack up.
Former President Donald Trump was a businessman. In this particular situation, he would have already had this problem handled. Trump had a knack for getting things done for Americans and working with others to accomplish the job.
Meanwhile, Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg is nowhere to be found. He can be found, just not working. He’s been on maternity leave because he and his partner just had two children. Okay, he did not have two children. He has adopted two children. He’s been out of work for several months, but he’s been pushing the trillions of dollars of spending the Biden administration wants to make through. The problem is that it’s not going to fix this issue. Biden may be holding America’s supplies ransom in hopes that his bills will be passed.
Biden also had a press conference to address the issue or alert Americans the problem was present. He refused to take questions.
