Another House Republican Endorses Biden Impeachment

Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-MT), who emerged as a crucial House Republican during the vote for House Speaker earlier this year, has signaled his support for both impeaching President Joe Biden and expunging the impeachments of former President Donald Trump. Rosendale’s announcement could have considerable effects both on the efforts in Congress and his potential run for U.S. Senate in Montana.

Rosendale’s office signaled the support to impeach Biden. There are several efforts in Congress regarding the president’s conduct. One of the most recent is a resolution offered by Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO).

The impeachment resolution states that “President Biden has knowingly presided over an executive branch that has continuously, overtly and consistently violated Federal immigration law by pursuing an aggressive, open-borders agenda by purposefully and knowingly releasing more than 2,000,000 illegal aliens into the interior of the United States.”

Boebert’s effort accuses the president of taking such actions “without the intention or ability to ensure that they appear in immigration court to face asylum or deportation proceedings.”

The resolution further cites the ongoing drug crisis caused, in part, by the porous southern border. According to Boebert, during the Biden administration, “illicit fentanyl has killed more than 100,000 American citizens. In fiscal year 2023, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol seized more than 9,000 pounds of fentanyl at the southern border.”

Rosendale’s office also said that the Montana Republican endorsed the efforts to expunge both impeachments of the former president. There are two separate resolutions introduced by Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).

“President Donald Trump was rightfully acquitted, and it is past time to expunge Democrats’ sham smear against not only President Trump’s name, but against millions of patriots across the country,” Stefanik said.

“The first impeachment of President Trump was a politically motivated sham. The Democrats, led by Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff, weaponized a perfect phone call with Ukraine to interfere with the 2020 election,” Greene said.

Rosendale is currently considering a run for the seat currently held by Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT) in 2024.
