Renowned actor Sean Penn has expressed his “pride” in President Joe Biden’s decision to pardon his son Hunter Biden, ahead of what he termed the “dangerous clown show” administration of the incoming president-elect Donald Trump.

“Any parent who didn’t pardon their child in such a situation would have been negligent,” Penn remarked in an interview with Variety. “I wouldn’t want to share a beer with someone who wouldn’t have pardoned Hunter Biden, being their offspring.”

As reported by Breitbart News, many individuals voiced concerns over the fact that Biden had repeatedly asserted he would not pardon his son, only to contradict his previous statements.

Penn seemingly attempted to rationalize this concern, stating to Variety, “I don’t believe that Joe Biden, had he secured the presidency, would have pardoned his son. I don’t think it was a lie; I believe it was a change of mind and circumstance.”

The actor, who is notably a close friend of Hunter Biden and has his paintings adorning his walls, further characterized the now-cleared felony charges against Hunter as “one of the most egregious smear campaigns of all time” and “existentially absurd.”

Penn, who starred in the film Mystic River, then referred to Hunter Biden as “one of the finest individuals I know.”

“This is a person who has grappled with severe addiction and has so much to offer those suffering or families enduring that ordeal,” Penn said. “And I’m simply glad that the opportunity now exists for him to provide that support to people, which I know is his desire.”

“We would be honored to have him,” the Milk star added. “He’s also an exceptional painter.”

Penn further conveyed to Variety his perception of Trump’s incoming presidential administration as “a dangerous clown show.”

However, the majority of Americans disagree with Penn’s assertion, as evidenced by Trump’s resounding victory in the 2024 election, where the 45th and soon-to-be 47th president secured not only the Electoral College but also the popular vote, as well as every single swing state.

The 2024 election also resulted in Republicans gaining control of both the Senate and the House of Representatives – a clear message from the American people.
